This is one of my favorite new trends in interior and exterior design. Living walls, which are also known as green walls, make an incredible addition to any space that can accommodate them. Living walls are totally self-sufficient vertical gardens that are on the outside of buildings or on the interior walls.
Unlike ivy walls, which occur naturally and use the wall itself to grow on as well as the ground and nature in order to stay alive, living walls receive water and nutrients from within the structure of the wall itself. Living walls aka green walls, or vertical gardens. The French botanist and artist Patrick Blanc created the first vertical garden over 30 years ago.
Many kinds of plants and foliage have been tested in vertical gardens to test which ones work best, and there are literally hundreds of species that do well in this kind of structure.
Here’s a gallery of some of the most gorgeous living walls I’ve seen recently. Enjoy!
